The first companion Minako picked up, Mothman was originally one of Minako's Personas. He manifested as a Mascot during the initial Jaunt to Doki Doki Gakuen, then apparently decided to stick around afterwards. Mischievous and mercurial, Mothman runs on rule of funny most of the time, but he's also deeply loyal to Minako and will not hesitate to make life miserable for people who hurt her in any way. Despite his small size - he can often be seen perched on her shoulder - and Mascot status, he retains a fairly formidable set of spells. He speaks entirely in chirps, pantomime, and ridiculous props. His favorite foods are roses and wasabi truffles (do not feed him wasabi truffles).
[ Suzaku ]
Hailing from Questing Country, Suzaku the Vermilion Bird is elegant, graceful, and not a little haughty. This caused some problems when she and Minako first encountered each other during the original Questing Country Jaunt, where she unknowingly offended both Minako and Mothman by declaring her the Champion of Doors Portals (during Ouroboros Retrograde, Minako would instead become the Champion of Seals, much to everyone's chagrin including Suzaku's). Initially confused and defensive when confronted with their displeasure, she soon realized that she'd genuinely hurt Minako without intending to, choosing to accompany Minako back from Questing Country to learn where she'd gone wrong and hopefully become a better guide for her Champion.
Suzaku has mellowed out a lot since her early days. Now that she's been away from Questing Country for a while, she can see how the way things are done there aren't necessarily optimal - she's endlessly frustrated that her communication with Minako has to be cryptic, because it's not nearly as helpful as direct communication - but she does what she can within those strictures. She and Mothman have a somewhat fractious relationship, although it has gotten better in the past few years; originally, Minako's well-being was the only thing they agreed on. Her favorite food is fresh cantaloupe, although she likes most sweet fruits as well as honey.

Aeronwen, also known as Berry, is a Cŵn Annwn, a spectral hound of Annwn, the underworld of Welsh myth. Minako first encountered her in Purgatory during the Market of the Vanities return Jaunt, where she was chained up in a market stall being offered for an exorbitant price. Minako accidentally committed Grand Theft Doggo summoned her into Liminal Space while trying to figure out just how to buy her out of captivity. Aeronwen is tall and lanky, about the size of an Irish wolfhound, with silky white fur (shading to blood red on her ears, as with other Cŵn Annwn) and burning red eyes. She is still getting used to the vagaries of Traveling, but generally seems to be settling in well. For the most part, she seems to have a rather calm and inquisitive nature; however, her status as a psychopomp has left her with a distressing tendency to try to herd any souls of the dead she encounters to the afterlife, even if she doesn't currently know where it is. Do not threaten Minako in her presence.
