Game summary

(As an alternate version of the male protagonist, much of her history overlaps with his, although there are differences. e.g. Persona Q not happening for her, not having to suffer through Operation Babe Hunt, etc.)

CANON PERSONALITY: The words most often used to describe Minako Arisato are things like "bright," "friendly," "funny," "bubbly," or "cheerful." For the most part, this is accurate. Minako is far more outgoing than her male counterpart, and the majority of the responses you can have her give in the game reflect this. She's also every bit as charismatic, making a wide variety of friends over the course of the game with impressive ease - which is good, because her powers are fueled by the bonds she makes with people.

Minako was orphaned at a young age - ten years prior to the start of the game, to be exact. Officially, her parents were killed in a car accident on Port Island's Moonlight Bridge. In actuality, they died during the Dark Hour, killed during a battle between Aigis and the spirit of Death, or at least a portion of it. Unable to defeat it, Aigis opted to seal the spirit, or a fragment of it, in the body of a nearby child: Minako. (Minako herself doesn't learn about this until ten years later.) After her parents' deaths, she spent the remainder of her childhood constantly moving from place to place, never really staying long enough to form any lasting bonds with anyone, or perhaps simply not wanting to.

Returning to Port Island is a watershed event for her, and not just because it kickstarts the entire plot of the game. It's notable that Minako is travelling alone when she arrives; in addition, there is no mention of other relatives, which would imply that she isn't terribly close to them. (It also seems she's at least familiar with the Dark Hour, as she doesn't seem particularly surprised to find herself heading for the dorm for the first time during it. This is later proven to be right, as she's shown to be conscious and watching Aigis's battle with Death - although she doesn't seem to remember Aigis sealing Death inside her, which implies that she mentally blocked it out.) No mention is made of existing friendships, although granted, that's partly because she's a silent protagonist. I tend to headcanon that while she's social, she never really let people get close to her before returning to Port Island - and that while she had blocked the memory of Death being sealed inside her, she was still subconsciously aware of something being "wrong," a feeling that only started to be alleviated once she went back.

That something, or one of those somethings, was the fact that there were twelve additional pieces of the entity who had been Death still on Tatsumi Port Island; Death's desire/need to be reintegrated with them influenced her need/desire to return to the island. Minako herself remained unaware of this until far too late, and on some level, she'll probably always feel guilty for unwittingly bringing about humanity's near doom. Still, Port Island is where she finally begins to feel comfortable enough to let herself get close to people, although she still tends to keep her own problems to herself - not due to a lack of trust, although it starts out that way, but because she simply doesn't want to burden them. Which... still isn't ideal, but it's certainly an improvement.

Over the course of the game, Minako grows to cherish every bond she makes with another person, human or otherwise - even the one she makes with the avatar of Death (oops). And it's these newfound bonds that ultimately give her the strength to sacrifice herself to seal Nyx away. It's in part an act of atonement, but mostly it's an act of love, and Minako eventually dies with no regrets. For her, it's enough that her friends are alive and have a chance to be happy.

POINT OF DEPARTURE: N/A
ABILITIES: Minako is an excellent student and athlete; she played on the volleyball team at Gekkoukan. She's also a pretty good cook, particularly of sweets. She's good at sewing as well.

Her main abilities, of course, revolve around fighting. Her preferred weapon is a naginata (although a hockey stick will do in a pinch) and she is excellent with it. She's also a highly competent field leader, to the point that Mitsuru put her in charge more or less immediately after she joined the team. And of course, she has the ability to summon a Persona - essentially an aspect of oneself that takes the form of a mythological entity with superpowers. In fact, she has the ability to summon many Personae, as she, like her male counterpart, has the Wild Card ability. As such, Minako doesn't really have any one area that she specializes in; she can do pretty much anything if her Personae have a wide enough range of skills. She can carry up to twelve Personae, although generally she can only summon one at a time. (A few Personae have combination attacks, but in P3P these require items.)

Like other Persona 3 characters, Minako summons her Personae by pointing a gun-shaped Evoker at her head and 'firing' it. The shape of the Evoker is for largely psychological reasons; the idea is that the burst of fear that comes from pointing a gun-shaped object at one's head and pulling the trigger, combined with an instinct for self-preservation, gives the user the strength to summon their Persona. What happens should a user become too used to using the Evoker to be afraid of it anymore isn't really explored.

Minako also spent ten years unwittingly housing a part of the spirit of Death in her own body, which may or may not have had something to do with her developing the Wild Card ability - which in turn enabled her to seal Nyx away before humanity was wiped out, fueled as it was by the bonds she'd made with the people she'd met over the last year of her life.

INVENTORY;
* Her Gekkoukan High School uniform, along with her SEES armband, a faintly glowing ring given to her by Ryoji Mochizuki, and her 'XXII' barrette - the last is a reference to the alternate placement of the Fool in the tarot deck, as befits her status as an alternate protagonist
* A red neck strap MP3 player
* Headphones specially built for her by Fuuka Yamagishi
* Her naginata, Evoker, and holster
* A pig key holder that Junpei Iori gave her; it holds the following items:
- Her SEES dorm key
- The Velvet Key that granted her access to the Velvet Room and its services
- The key to Mitsuru Kirijo's motorcycle
- Ken Amada's silver house key
* Her cell phone, with an attached strap given to her by Yukari Takeba; there is a message on the phone from her friend Saori Hasegawa
* A leather watch Shinjiro Aragaki gave her
* The key holder and cell phone are in a small satchel along with a collar that used to belong to Koromaru - it had been given to him by his previous owner - and a small rabbit doll given to her by Akihiko Sanada, plus a charred screw Aigis gave her after having it replaced following the Moonlight Bridge battle.

ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW? She did not have a brother named Minato.
